My name is Laura Hall and I have been an educator for over 39 years with the Diocese of San Bernardino. I enjoy teaching second grade because I get to prepare my students for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
It is now the season of spring, We will focus on learning about animals and their habitats by attending a field trip to the Living Desert. My class will learn how to use the Ipad to research the special features of an animal, where it lives, and other interesting facts about the polar bear and the arctic fox.
Our day will be spent on learning place value, addition, and subtraction in Math this semester. We will be focusing on vocabulary and reading comprehension in reading. The students will learn how to respect, responsibility, kindness, and the beginning of our nation in Social Studies. This is such a fun grade because I love to teach cursive writing. The students think it is fun to learn cursive writing because it is like art.
In second grade, we will learn about what is STEM in Science. For example, students will learn about engineering and how things work.
I address the social/emotional needs of my students as well. Religion time is the perfect opportunity to talk about how we feel, manners, sharing, respect, how to behave in the classroom, how to behave outside, and conflict resolution. We will have fun learning in our new STEM lab and ART
room.
