My name is Laura Hall and I have been an educator for over 36 years with the Diocese of San Bernardino. I enjoy teaching second grade because I get to prepare my students for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Wow! It is now the end of the year! We will focus on learning about the greatest gift that God gave us which is JESUS! Second grade is preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. May is such a busy month with an in-house field trip so we can learn about Reptiles and Amphibians. Also, this is the month of Blessed Mother and will be learning more about how to pray the rosary.
Our day will be spent on learning multiplication and division in Math this semester. We will reviewing skills and strategies on how to read and practice reading fluency. The students will learn how to respect, responsibility, kindness, and the beginning of our Nation in Social Studies. This is such a fun grade because I love to teach cursive writing. The students think it is fun to learn cursive writing because it is like art. In second grade, we will learn about Life Science. For example, students will learn about Reptiles and Amphibians from research on-line and working on their reports in class. Also, I address the social/emotional needs of my students as well. During Religion time is the perfect opportunity to talk about how we feel, manners, sharing, respect, how to behave in the classroom, how to behave outside, and conflict resolution. We will finish our year with an end of the year class party to celebrate all our accomplishements!
