My name is Teashia Lopez and I have been teaching for the Diocese of San Bernardino for 36 years. One of the highlights of my life is being blessed to have taught Kindergarten for 23 years in the Catholic school I attended when I was younger. My class motto is, "Don't be afraid to make mistakes; we learn from them."
It is a busy time in our classroom as we practice for our annual Christmas play, work on Christmas crafts and projects, and participate in festive activities. Yet, we wil make time each day to focus on prayer and refection as we prepare for the coming of Jesus! I hope everyone has a blessed, peaceful, and joyful Holiday Season.
What we are learning:
Religion: We will learn about Advent and do an Advent wreath craft. We will read about The First Christmas and the fullfillment of the coming of the promised Messiah.
Language Arts: We will learn to spell words with the ck digraph. We will learn to identify the subject and predicate of a sentence. We will continue to learn to use illustrations, photos, and text to infer and develop an understanding of a story/topic. We will also read some great Christmas themed stories!
Math: We will continue to work on subtraction strategies. We will also learn about fact families using three numbers; finding the relationship these three numbers have when using addtion and subtraction.
Social Studies: We will learn how Christmas is celebrated in different parts of the world. We will explore our own family Christmas traditions.
I encourage you to stay informed, involved, and connected to our class, as well as the school. Open communication, teamwork, and a dedication to continuous improvement will continue to make this a rewarding year for our children.
